VERO BEACH, FL – Altruistic athletes recently had fun participating in the 2025 Family 5K Walk & Run at Orchid Island Golf Club & Beach Club. More than 200 club members and their families laced up for the annual race, which also included a continental breakfast and awards ceremony. Monies raised benefit the Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy, an organization that provides positive adult role models for children with limited resources in Indian River County.
“Supporting the community through philanthropic efforts is so important to our members, and fitness is also a big part of the lifestyle here at Orchid Island,” said Rob Tench, General Manager of Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club. “It was a wonderful morning for our members to combine charity with some friendly competition on a beautiful day in South Florida.”
“We’re thrilled and honored to be the beneficiary of this year’s Family 5K Walk & Run and cannot thank Orchid Island enough for their generosity,” said Phil Barnes, Executive Director of the Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy. “Proceeds will benefit programs for children and young adults, from summer camps to certification programs within the construction trades.”
