As the Winter season draws to a close, the demand for residential properties at Orchid Island Realty shows no signs of slowing down. The unprecedented interest has resulted in historic sales volume for all product types including our oceanfront condominiums, single family homes and remaining homesites for new build opportunities. Since the start of the year, we have had over 800 inquiries to our real estate office, averaging more than 45 new inquiries every week. We are now accumulating a “waiting list” of potential homebuyers who desire to become Resident Members at Orchid Island.
In 2021, Orchid Island Realty has sold almost $35 million in real estate, representing 25 individual transactions. With a surge of interest in our oceanfront condominiums, 10 residences sold since January 1st with 2 of these sales representing the highest price paid for 3rd and 2nd floor condos in Orchid Island. This represents a rise of 34.7% year over year, and we predict continued escalation due to the current lack of inventory and high demand. This year to date, Orchid Island has sold its listings at an average of 98% of list price. When it comes to selling Orchid Island listings, we bring the buyer to 2 out of every 3 listings; saving our sellers money on commission dollars.
At the beginning of the year there were 10 homesites available for purchase within Orchid Island. Over the past 4 months, all these homesites have gone under contract, leaving no remaining properties available for sale. Orchid Island Realty recently sold 4 of 5 builder lot/home packages without being listed. Currently there is 1 builder package available for those looking to build and customize their new home.
Single-family homes remain in demand at Orchid Island. 20 properties were sold since January 1st, representing $28 million in sales. Homes are selling very close to asking price and our average days on the market has been significantly reduced. There are currently two available estate homes on the market, and we have buyers eagerly awaiting new listings.
“We are speaking to homebuyers every day who are eagerly awaiting their opportunity to purchase at Orchid Island,” says Anne Torline, Orchid Island Realty’s managing broker. “As new properties become available, we make sure our interested clients are the first to know of their availability.”
Orchid Island Realty exclusively sells and represents homes within our cherished community. We understand the value of our private golf and beach club membership and what differentiates our lifestyle from other competing properties. No one knows Orchid Island like our Orchid Island Realty sales team.

Morning walks on the beach, afternoons by the pool, and endless rounds of golf—sounds like a vacation from the hustle and bustle of the office. Not anymore. As remote working continues to grow across the country, many vacation retreats like Florida’s Treasure Coast have quickly become permanent addresses for entrepreneurs and business executives across many industries. Whether it’s the sound of the waves rolling up onto the beach or the elimination of the daily commute, a remote work environment should offer less stress and more flexibility. A 2019 FlexJobs study found that 65% of professionals think they would be more productive working remotely. This can undoubtedly be attributed to the ability to customize home office spaces with the most comfortable chairs, décor, and of course, window views. The flexibility of remote work has also been shown to lower stress, with availability to try new hobbies and spend time with family and friends.

Whether the preferred medium is oil, paint, sculpture, or photography, it is evident that members of Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club’s Art Club (OIAC) are inspired by the breathtaking nature thriving throughout their beloved private community as well as the nearby Environmental Learning Center (ELC). A new exhibit, “Nature at Its Best” is currently on display at the ELC for all to enjoy. Featuring more than 30 pieces of art, the exhibit is something local nature and art enthusiasts will not want to miss.
“Nature at Its Best” promotes the ELC Mission to educate, inspire and empower all people to be active stewards of the environment and their own well-being. Near and dear to many Orchid Island residents, the ELC’s beauty has often served as inspiration for many members of OIAC. As one of Vero Beach’s hot spots, the ELC has long been the place for the community to explore the sights, sounds, reflections, and sweet breezes of this beautiful area. Show coordinator, Judy Stach, a frequenter of the ELC and past president of OIAC, once took her grandchildren on the evening pontoon boat ride and found an abundance of new subject matter, noting “flora and fauna enriches the artist’s spirit. This environment is unspoiled and unrivaled in its pure representation of simple pleasures that surround us all in a very tumultuous world.”
OIAC is one of many special interest social clubs at Orchid Island. According to Stach, it “was formed in 2012 with a goal to include all who wanted to learn about art and create for themselves, and most importantly, to share their talents with each other.” Open to all Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club members, OIAC is an active membership hosting workshops and member exhibits yearly.
Judy Stach is among seven decorated artists featured in the gallery including Muci Clemens, Susan Atwood Daniels, Michele Henry, Lou Lower, Ruth Martin, and Cree Scudder. Judy’s work has appeared in several magazines nationwide, with her forty-year retrospective recently being the featured article in Jersey Shoe Magazine Spring Summer 2020. Cree has been a dedicated painter for over 25 years with experiences studying art in Princeton, NJ, La Jolla, CA, and our beloved Vero Beach, Fl. Susan Atwood Daniels has built a lasting career creating museum-quality Nantucket Lightship Baskets, handcrafted beaded jewelry, and acrylic paintings on stretched canvases in addition to watercolors, oil, and mixed media works. Moving full-time to Florida 10 years ago, Michele Henry began a new, more fun chapter in her life, recording the extraordinary scenery, wildlife, and waterways, making them her own. “Nature at Its Best” not only brings Vero’s unique surroundings to life, but the exhibit also embodies each Orchid Island artist’s storied past.
The Environmental Learning Center’s commitment for its artist series has put a wide variety of artists and artwork mediums on display, with many pieces priced for sale. The “Nature at Its Best” exhibit is available through April 5th, 7 days a week, from 8 am to 4 pm. Head to the Lagoon Room at the ELC and see our community’s unmatched beauty on display and support both Orchid Island artists and the Environmental Learning Center.
